American university students on study trip at ECOVIS HUNGARY
A group of 17 students of Georgia State University of Atlanta accompanied by two tutors on a two-week study tour of Europe arrived in Hungary and visited our lawyer’s office. The American students reading economic law were spending a few days in Greece, Austria and Hungary to gain some insight into European business culture. Members of Ecovis’ team of legal experts were their hosts on 12 May for a four-hour educational visit to ECOVIS HUNGARY.
In the first part of the programme our colleagues, Dr. Gergő MOLNÁR lawyer and Endre GIZELLA and Zsolt OTTA apprentice lawyers gave a short overview of the specialities of the Hungarian legal system, the differences between the common law system of the United States and continental law followed by Hungary and explained how the international Ecovis network operates. Next the participants engaged in a two-hour, lively discussion of current issues and cultural differences, such as immigration, free education, the situation of lawyers and the advantages and disadvantages of jury trials.
It was evident that our guests were having a good time; at the end of the visit they all said a warm thank you for the motivating insights and for the ‘Túró Rudi’ bars we had been serving them as a Hungarian speciality. After their return to the USA they even sent us a kind letter confirming that they had acquired some valuable new knowledge and that they would be happy to return to Ecovis during their next study trip to the region.
