Changes in the Act on Transactions in Land

The amendments to agricultural matters, which entered into force on 1 January 2022, brought a significant change to the Act CXXII of 2013 on the transactions in agricultural and forestry land (Land Act).
The relationship between the procedures for announcement of the contracts and their official approval has been re-regulated.
 According to the new procedure, in contrast to the previous practice, the contract of sale or lease must not first be sent to the notary of the local government of the land but to the agricultural administrative body for a preliminary check (land office of the capital city and county government according to the location of the land).
